As another memorable school year comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the moments that brought our community together and made this year so special. We are grateful to our families for their partnership and support throughout the year. Your involvement and commitment helped create the warm, nurturing community that makes Hoboken Montessori School such a special place for children to learn, grow, and thrive.
At HMS, learning extends far beyond the classroom walls, and throughout the year our community came together for a variety of beloved traditions and special events that celebrated childhood, fostered meaningful connections, and strengthened the bonds between families, students, and staff. From joyful celebrations and cherished traditions to opportunities for learning, gratitude, and connection, each event helped create lasting memories.
From the excitement of the Halloween Parade, where children proudly marched by the waterfront in their creative costumes, to the comfort of our Thanksgiving Celebration, which reflected something central to the Montessori philosophy: gratitude as a practice, not just a season, each event carries its own energy.
December brought the Holiday Pajama Party. Children had a cozy morning as they arrived to school in their favorite pajamas. Our classrooms were filled with festive music, story time, and crafts, and the kind of unhurried warmth that the season calls for.
Montessori Education Week holds a special place in our hearts as we honor the principles and philosophy that guide our classrooms every day. Through hands-on activities, classroom experiences, and community engagement, students and families gained a deeper appreciation for the Montessori journey and the remarkable growth of our students.
As winter faded and spring arrived, so did one of our most cherished traditions: our High Tea. Families gather around beautifully set tables, children practice their manners and hosting skills, and the entire event reflects the grace and confidence they develop throughout the year.
Our Kindergarten program is a year of tremendous growth, independence, and learning. As leaders in the Montessori classroom, Kindergarteners deepen their academic skills through advanced lessons, collaborative projects, and hands-on exploration. This year was filled with memorable experiences that brought learning beyond the classroom walls, from eagerly observing the chick life cycle and celebrating the hatching of nine chicks, to giving back to the community by making sandwiches for a local shelter. Through these meaningful experiences and their continued academic growth, our Kindergarteners built the skills and independence that will support them as they take their next steps into elementary school.
Creativity took center stage at our Annual Art & Music Show, where students displayed their artistic talents. The silent auction featuring collaborative class artwork, with proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County, is always a highlight. There's something powerful about watching kids realize their work can do good in the world.
Field Day brought everyone back outside, racing, laughing, and cheering each other on with the kind of wholehearted spirit that makes the whole school feel like one team. And the Family Picnic closed the season softly: blankets on the grass, shared meals, long conversations, the school year's fond farewell.
Wishing you all a fantastic and fun-filled summer with your families, friends, and loved ones. If you're participating in our summer program, we look forward to seeing our wonderful students as our program continues!
