HMS Teacher Spotlight- Ms. Victoria

Hoboken Montessori Teacher
Ms. Victoria, Primary Head Teacher

Please share a little background about yourself:

I grew up in Jersey City Heights and attended college at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, where I graduated with a bachelor of Fine Arts. Shortly after college, I worked in various after-school art programs, ending up at the HMS After care program. I completed my training at West Side Montessori School in Manhattan in 2016 and have been the Primary 4 lead teacher ever since.

What inspired you to becoming a teacher?

As part of the exposed to the classroom and materials I knew I wanted to learn more. I continued as an assistant teacher full time in the classroom and decided to pursue my Montessori training.

What is your favorite area in the Montessori classroom?

Art is my passion and I try to add it into the classroom in all areas and find creative ways to explore art, artists, and art concepts that are fun and expressive for the children. Naturally my favorite part of the classroom is Art but a close second is Culture. I love the challenge of creating materials to teach the children about other cultures from around the globe.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I currently live in Hoboken with husband Cory and our 3 year old daughter Zoey and love to spend as much time with them as possible. I especially enjoy traveling during the summer and our most recent travels took us to Canada and London. We enjoy having movie nights at home- Harry Potter is our favorite! We love to take advantage of the close proximity to NYC and all that has to offer.

If you see Ms. Victoria around Hoboken, stop and say hello!
